The two faces of San Felipe from Panama - Shared

$103.00

San Felipe, the Colonial Quarter of Panama City, has historically offered two sides of the same coin.

  1. The rich Spanish Quarter, where even the Church and Cathedral are covered in gold.
  2. "Los Arrabales" inhabited by Africans and Indians who live together, creating a mixture of rhythms, flavors and races. Where happiness was shown by every dance expression, the rhythm of the drums, cans, frying pans, bottles, whistles, and by the laughter heard when someone hit his opponent while playing dominoes at "El Parque de Los Aburridos".

First you will visit the tourist area of San Felipe, Old Town. Then you will walk through the streets visiting the Golden Altar of the Church of San José, El Arco Chato, Las Bóvedas and other monuments in the area.

Then we will join a tour led by former Gangsters, rehabilitated as an opportunity to start a business in a community that a few years ago was declared a "Red Zone" by the authority.

Visit several points, starting with the American Trade Hotel, a 5-star hotel in Panama City that was built in 1917 and restored in 2013.

During the tour these former gangsters tell their stories as we walk through abandoned streets and dilapidated buildings, men and women sitting on stairs and plastic chairs.

After the tour you will enjoy a delicious dinner prepared by them.
