In the morning you will get to know the most traditional products of the Province of Herrera. Observe how the extraction of salt from the Pacific Ocean works using the same technique the Indians invented long before the arrival of the Spaniards; learn why the town of La Arena is so famous for its pottery and try how difficult pottery is; get to know a sugar mill to see how the refreshing sugar cane juice called "Guarapo" is produced and how cane honey is cooked; and finally learn how the famous "Pan de la Arena" is made and gives it its unique flavor.
Considered by many to be the "cultural heart of Panama", the inhabitants of the Azuero Peninsula live their traditions and folklore with great pride and express it in their daily lives throughout the year. In the afternoon you will observe in detail the making of the skirt, one of the most beautiful typical costumes in the world, visiting craftswomen who have dedicated all their lives to the elaboration of the dress. You will also visit the workshops of two local artisans dedicated to Panamanian folklore: one who makes the devil masks used for the dances of the Dirty Devils and the Great Devil; and another who makes the wooden drums that cannot be missing in the typical Panamanian music.
