Visit part of the history of Panama, the “Panama Canal Zone.” In 1903, the Hay–Bunau-Varilla Treaty was signed between Panama and the United States. The Panama Canal Zone was created as a U.S. governed region and allowed the U.S. to build the Panama Canal. There were in total 18 U.S. military bases along the Canal, which were turned over to local authorities by 1999. On this tour, you will visit six former U.S. military bases located at the Pacific side, such as: Fort Kobbe, Fort Howard, Fort Rodman, Cocoli Rangers, Fort Clayton and Fort Albrook.
